About us

Welcome to Myrthe, a charming family-run apartment complex located in the heart of Mirtos. The name “Myrthe” is a perfect blend of the Greek spelling of the village and the pleasant aroma of myrtle leaves. In ancient times, the myrtle plant was a sacred symbol, dedicated to goddesses and later to the Virgin Mary.

Myrthe Apartments offer excellent amenities just a few steps away from the enchanting seafront and pristine beach. Within walking distance, you’ll find everything you need—from shops, restaurants, and cafés to a pharmacy and bakery. No need to rely on your car! Step out onto the balconies of Myrthe and get ready for stunning views of the endless blue sea, the majestic mountains, or the picturesque valley beyond the village.

Enjoy the mild climate of Mirtos and the comfortable facilities of our apartments, such as air conditioning and halogen heaters. Myrthe is open all year round, making it ideal for extended stays during the off-season and winter months. A supermarket, butcher, bakery, pharmacy, and a few cafés are also open throughout the year, ensuring your convenience and enjoyment!

Myrthe Apartments (No1, No2, No3, No4, No5, No6) consist of six two-room apartments suitable for 2–5 people. Each one is slightly different in layout and shape, and the largest is even wheelchair-accessible.

Crete

Crete is the largest and most populous island in Greece, and the fifth largest in the Mediterranean by area, after Sicily, Sardinia, Cyprus, and Corsica. Its capital and largest city is Heraklion.

Crete belongs to the Mediterranean climate zone, which gives the island its main climatic characteristics—classified as temperate. Depending on proximity to the sea, the atmosphere can be quite humid. Winters are mild and wet, with frequent rainfall, especially in the western parts of the island. Snow is rare in lowland areas but more common in the mountains. In summer, the average temperature ranges between 28 and 33 degrees Celsius.

Crete is also known for its traditional music, whose main instruments are the Cretan lyra and the laouto, followed by the violin, the mandolin, and the askomandoura, a type of bagpipe.

In addition to its traditional focus on agriculture and livestock farming, there has been a significant increase in service industries—mainly related to tourism—over the past decades, as Crete is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Greece.

The island has three airports: in Heraklion, Chania, and Sitia. The major ports in these cities also provide daily ferry connections to the mainland and other islands.
